ASUU STRIKE

While ASUU is on strike, an idea must strike!
l think it was 2002. There had been a long face-off between the Academic Staff Union of
Universities and the Federal Government under President Obasanjo. All students had become restless and suddenly, we had become best of friends with the early morning radio news and National Newspapers. Students had become so idle and quite a number of men were engaging women in whatever they called it. Nigerian Universities were shut down under Fashina,l think. Infact, nobody was interested in the name of the President of ASUU if not for ASUU strike. It was a time many students and even lecturers complained of boredom and sincerely speaking, such boredom was leading almost everyone to whoredom.
l am an intellectually restless person.Someone once told me he wasn't sure if my brain ever rests even when l sleep. During this long ASUU strike,it just occurred to me what would happen if PASTORS go ON STRIKE.So,l sat down and wrote a script titled PASTORS ON STRIKE during ASUU STRIKE. The play was staged in 2004 and today is one of our most impactful films. During the same strike,I wrote THE FESTIVAL OF RAIN on a very rainy day.It was an opera we later staged pulling various people from all phases of life including the then Ogun State number 1 as member of audience. My stay at Mushin then was a time to create and recreate and prepare to embark on a lifetime journey of success.Sincerely speaking,Oreofe is never bored.Perhaps if not for ASUU on strike, an idea like PASTORS ON STRIKE would never have struck. PASTORS ON STRIKE,today, has received two international awards;a product of ASUU strike.
My dear Nigerian students, while you complain about the FG or criticize ASUU,it is expedient to analyze what you do with your time. You are so talented that not even the Federal Government strike can stop your greatness. Continue to pray for the FG and ASUU but never allow boredom to make a borehole of you.l know of students who are already engaged in profitable businesses. A few folks came to perform at an event during this same strike and were paid for dancing. l know of a make-up artist that is profitably busy as l write. Arise now. Stop complaining.Join a group. Groom an idea. Think of something. It's time to excel.Don't turn the Facebook or the twitter to an everyday classroom!
ASUU strike is never an excuse for failure.

Let's succeed together!
